Brighton – the perfect city for an elopement style wedding.
An elopement wedding is an easy fuss-free way to ‘just get married already!’ minus all the stress and overwhelm that can come with hosting a big wedding day. A mini adventure just for the two of you - today’s modern elopement weddings are personal, informal and relaxed - a wedding day of choice, not necessity.
And while a traditional elopement is when a couple get married without the knowledge of their friends and family, I’m now finding couples opting for an intimate ceremony followed by a party to celebrate, a low-key, low-stress way to tie the knot.
Brighton is a great place to plan your elopement … I’m based a few miles away and have been lucky enough to provide wedding flowers for a number of elopements in the last few years. Here are some of my favourites and a few pointers to help you decide if an elopement wedding is for you!

Why elope to Brighton?
The most popular seaside resort on the South coast, Brighton is a diverse city full of art, culture and creativity. Welcoming and a little bit quirky, there is always fun happening somewhere in Brighton! And in terms of post ceremony mooching and photo opportunities, Brighton has it all – the sea, the pier, the lanes, beautiful regency architecture, trendy restaurants, fun hotels and vibrant night life as well as a few graffitied murals to give the photos of your day a unique vibe!

So how do we elope?
In England you still need to give notice to marry at your local registry office, at least 29 days before you get married. And you then need to wed within 12 months (and pay a small cost). There’s more detail to be found here in this useful article by Hitched.

Where can I get married in Brighton?
The council website has a full list of approved venues to hold a wedding, see link here. But here are some of my personal favourites to check out -
Brighton Town Hall - Brighton Bandstand - Brighton Pier - Brighton i360 - The Royal Pavilion - The Seahorse

What do you need for your own Brighton elopement?
Well really just you, your love, an outfit of choice that makes you feel amazing plus a photographer to capture the moments to share later with your friends and family. And of course, a traffic stopping bouquet of flowers to enjoy waving about all day. Even an elopement wedding needs wow factor flowers to remember for years to come!
